#13 rEvolution
Even when an office is big--and there are more than a few mammoth-sized companies on our list--it's important for Gen Yers to feel a sense of intimacy in their workplace. Of course, if you're pint-sized-but-mighty sports marketing agency rEvolution, you can't help but have that close-knit office feeling where everyone knows each other well and claims a strong sense of responsibility.
"This office has a little over 20 employees, so everyone wears many hats and gets in with the company on the ground floor," says Accounting Director Terry Moon. "There's a lot of collaboration here--it's hands-on work."
In a smaller environment, it's only natural that senior management interacts with rookies or those in non-management positions. "There is a wide variety of folks," says EVP of Business Development Larry Mann. "Some folks are more senior, some are more passionate in sports, some have Master's degrees and some have undergraduate degrees--they all come from different backgrounds. What makes us unique is that we all share a common goal, which is to strive to do the best we can."
Since sports marketing is essentially the newborn brainchild of advertising and sports media, there's lots of room for collaboration, growth, and insight. As Mann says, "Sports marketing is not an old science," so those at the company with ideas can count on them being heard--even the interns. "There's no substitute for experience," says Account Services Manager Scott Nowicki, who says starting out as an intern is a smart move. "[With an] internship, you're doing things that everyone has to start out doing--and you'll get to a position where you're in charge of million dollar programs."
Of course, having a sense of importance feels great, but so is going to high profile sports events, something that rEvolution employees get to do frequently. "We go to games," Nowicki says. "Baseball, basketball, Nascar events, and we're sitting in the pit or standing next to the players."
For Catie Clemens, a Marketing Associate, the games are just half the fun. "It's a very social, upbeat environment. I work with my friends," she says. "My coworkers are very similar to me: outgoing, high energy, and they thrive on pressure--we have a lot of deadlines." Catie says as employees, "We have to come up with millions of different ideas, be creative and think on our feet," which is something she enjoys almost as much as the opportunities at the company. "I go anywhere from the beaches of Miami to New York City," she says. "My main focus is in events, but I do pretty much everything."
Small offices of the world, we salute you.
